I’m sure every mom feels this way, but Wow! What a fast couple of weeks. I also can’t believe I’m sitting here writing Wyatt’s birth story. WITH a little baby Wyatt laying on dads chest next to me. 😍
I remember Monday the 15th I was so grouchy and emotional. We went on our regular hike up the hill behind our house. My sister took me to go pick up some chicken feed and while we were out she said can I get you some food? A burger, something from the diner, a chili cheese coney??? OMG nothing sounded better than a stupid chili cheese coney from sonic. But guess what we don’t have a sonic in our town 😭 closest one is 1.5 hours away 😭😭 such a cruel cruel thing to ask. The rest of the day I calmed down and it was just a regular day. Tuesday Oct. 16. Was also just a regular old day. Sawyer and I got up and had breakfast and went on a hike. I had a few things on my “to do before baby comes” list like cleaning out the chicken coop, laundry and some cleaning. After we did that we had lunch and played with dad. Around 3:30 as Jeff was getting ready for work, I noticed I started loosing my mucus plug. I remember saying “I don’t want to alarm you dear but I’m loosing my mucus plug, it doesn’t always something’s happening right now, but it could also mean I’m going into labor” I know he started stressing the minute I told him that poor guy. I was feeling crampy, but didn’t really feel any contractions. I called my mom ( who was on her way from Virginia) to let her know. And then did some hypnobirthjng practice. Sawyer and I played the rest of the day and around 8pm I started feeling contractions. They weren’t painful but definitely could feel them and they were quite close together. I didn’t start timing them until around 8:30-9, and when I did they were about 20-30 seconds long and coming every 4-6 minutes apart. I had texted my doula, lisa, around 4pm telling her my mucus plug was coming out, and then again around 9 to tell her about my contractions. But didn’t get a response. I wasn’t worried, as the contractions werent that’s painful yet. I took a shower and she finally called freaking out saying she didn’t realize she didn’t have service where she was. Hehe. I told her not to come quite yet as I was still able to manage the contractions but would call when I needed more support. Around 11:30 I called her to come as my contractions seemed to be getting stronger. I was practicing my hypnobirth techniques and I know that it helped. I labored a little while longer on my bed listening to some hypnobirthing tracks. And when my doula arrived, I decided to get into our tub to labor. I labored there for about an 1 hour. At around 1:30 am my contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart and lasting about 1 minute long, so we decided to head to the hospital. We got to the ER and I don't think that the doctor that triaged me believed I was in labor because I was so calm. The contractions were fairly intense though and I did have to stop and relax. They admitted me and took me to Labor and Delivery, were the same doctor hooked me up to the fetal monitors and said that the L&D nurse Tiffany would be in shortly and would be able to get the tub set up. I was monitored for about 20ish minutes and Tiffany arrived and placed my IV & antibiotics. I labored on the ball while they were setting up and filling up the tub. My contractions were coming steadily but I was able to keep relaxed and calm with my hypo birthing techniques and Lisa. She kept making me sip water and massaging my head. It was very relaxing. After about an hour the tub was ready and my nurse checked me. I was a 5, I was pretty disappointed to say the least. It had already been about 6 hours since I started active labor and Sawyer had been born by this time. I got in the tub and the water felt so good! I was in the water for about an hour , and during that time my contractions started to slow down. Around 5:30 I got out and was checked again and I was a 6., but the nurse was hopeful that things would pick up because my bag of waters was bulging. I was pretty disappointed. I wanted to cry! i decided to move around walk around some more. I remember time passing so quickly & yet so slowly. Every time I would ask what time it was 2 or 3 hours had passed. And it felt like my contractions were getting me nowhere. But also really painful. Hypnobirthing really helped me manage the pain, and thus making time appear to go faster. I labored on the yoga ball and walked around our room. Everything was very calm and Jeff and Lisa even fell asleep for a little while while I labored. I was checked again around 9 am and I was still at a 6. At this point I was pretty discouraged. I remember feeling so discouraged and praying " Please let him be here by 12pm. Please!" Lisa asked if i wanted to try the peanut ball, to help open my hips. i tried it but i did not like it. i stayed on the bed for a while to be monitored and while the tub was being filled back up. at 11 am i got back in the tub and stayed for about 30 minutes. while in the tub, my doctor asked if i wanted to try pitocin. I was progressing, but he thought little buddy and my body needed an extra push ( no pun intended haha). my contractions were filling more intense, and i was having a harder time getting comfortable. I was also so tired, so the prospect that my contractions would get even worse because of the pitocin, was really scary to me. I got out and my nurse checked me. i was a stretchy" 7. which i think meant almost an 8. After going back and forth in my head, I decided to get the pitocin. At around 12pm ( I was discouraged because he wasn't here still! but a different answer to my prayer was given in the form of pitocin. to really get him here) i was given the pitocin and strangely enough I fell asleep for about 45 minutes. I woke up to a really intense contraction, that I wasn't prepared for. I immediately asked for my hypnobirthing track to get back in the swing of things. My nurse checked me again at 1pm, but all she said was that I made progress... I don't even remember her saying this. This was probably a good thing because I'm sure it would have discouraged me. I'm guessing this is when I started going through transition. I started feeling nauseous and I labored through some pretty tough contractions for about an 45 minutes. My doctor came in and asked if he could break y bag of waters. I said yes. He broke the bag and I immediately felt this huge, I mean huge gush of fluid. The Doc and the nurses in the room all yelled out "WOW!!!" They kept saying that it was a ton of water and hadn't seen that much before. And to this day I still can't stop laughing at that. hahahaha. Minutes after my water broke I started feeling like i had to push. He's coming! I knew he would be here soon. This helped with the pain and fear I was feeling. I was able to push on my hands and knees, which was a game changer for me. I was able to push using my birth breathing technique, and really bare down through each contraction. I pushed for about 10 minutes. After 18 hours of labor Wyatt Michael was born at 2:10pm crying AND with his cord wrapped around his neck and arm. ( We think this is why labor was so long, Wyatt was being held back by the cord and wasn't putting much pressure on my cervix). My doctor unwrapped him and placed him on my chest. I immediately started crying. I couldn't believe he was here. I fought so hard and so long for him. He was so tiny and perfect. He began nursing almost right away and had a great latch! Jeff was able to cut the cord after the delayed cord clamping. He was an apgar score of 8 and we spent the first 3 or 4 hours skin to skin and cuddling. Around 6pm, my sister Sierra brought Sawyer in to meet baby brother. More instant tears. Sawyer looked 10 years older and i was so happy to see him. I missed him so much. It was so overwhelming to have both boys together. Jeff started asking the nurses most immediately when we could go home. haha. Our doctor came in and talked to us, and said we could leave around 8:30 if we really wanted to, but I decided to send Jeff home and stay. My mom got into town around 9:30 that night and came right over to meet Wyatt. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll never get enough of my family loving on my babies. The first night was pure bliss. Wyatt and I cuddled together all night. And it felt so good to finally sleep! We met with our doctor the next morning around 8am and were able to leave at 10:30 that morning. Before i was pregnant with Wyatt, I always said that if my labor were longer than 6 hours (sawyer was born after 6 hours) I would cave and get an epidural. But I didn't cave!! Even though it didn't go to plan, and went way longer than any one was expecting. I was able to have the peaceful unmedicated birth that I wanted. BABY UPDATE:
39 weeks! I remember being 39 weeks with Sawyer and thinking oh yeah he’s gonna come any day now.... little did I know I had two more weeks of killer waiting 😂😭. This time around I’m hopeful baby boy comes early, but not crossing my fingers. I want him to come when he’s ready so I won’t induce until the last possible moment. hes around 7lbs we think, head down and starting to engage in my pelvis! Which I Hope locks him in. No flipping this late little buddy! I’ve ordered a few last things from amazon, but were pretty much set for him to come. Come anytime little love. WORKOUTS I felt like resting a lot this past week, so for the first few days I did just that. I wanted to finish the week off strong, so I got in two resistance and 1 cardio workout in. And it kicked my but 😂. Pubis symphitis is no joke, and walking causes a lot of pain afterwards. I’m gonna stick to resistance workouts this week and a little light walking. SYMPTOMS I just noticed 3 little baby souvenirs aka stretch marks on my stomach this morning. I got a few with sawyer around my belly button last time, but I really do feel so stretched like there’s absolutely no room. And guess I was right! My first instinct was to be sad about the stretch marks, but really it’s just a little souvenir of this trip I’ve been on with my sweet little babe! EATING we had a lot of yummy meals this week. Potstickers broccoli and rice, sesame chicken noodles with salad, and a couple of restaurant meals with Jeff’s dad and brother who were in town. MISCELLANEOUS Not much else to report! Everyone is happy and healthy around hear and I hope it stays that way! I just ordered sawyer some of these It’s just a waiting/resting/ and keep pushing through game over here right now! BABY UPDATE:
38 Weeks and I'm hoping he"ll come any day now ;) Baby boy is roughly 6.5lbs ( I think) and is the size of a "watermelon". He's still head down ( GOOD JOB BABY!) and hopefully he'll stay that way. I think hes been head down for a while because I've been getting a lot of kicks in the ribs. ;) My doctor talked about inducing me at my last appointment. Which is so crazy to me, that were at that point. But I really want Baby boy to come on his own, so we will wait as long as we can. WORKOUTS This week was a winner for me! I'm still feeling pelvic pain, but I'm able to modify exercise (or just not do them if it hurts) Walking hurts the most, but I was able to get in a nice long hike yesterday without any pain! I also did a lower body HIIT and 3 resistance workouts. I've already gained more weight with this baby than I did with Sawyer, but I'm pretty sure its mostly muscle! I mostly just did long walks and hike when I was pregnant with Sawyer and no resistance workouts. And honestly I can totally tell a difference and see it in my arms!! I know all this preparation will pay off and help me be so strong during labor. SYMPTOMS Yesterday I noticed that just my right leg and ankle are swollen. Not both legs, just the right haha. I think its so funny and weird that its only one leg! I didn't have any swelling with Sawyer, so it just goes to show you how different pregnancies can be! I'm noticing my back is sore a lot more these days and I'm chalking it up to having a 38 week belly. EATING Eating was great this week, Jeff made it a whole week without eating any sugar. I'm so proud of him because he starts this kind of "challenge" a lot but never gets past a few days. I also decided to do no sugar, and went 5 days, but gave my self a treat because it was my baby shower today. I've said it before, I don't believe in totally going off sugar forever, but I do like to do no sugar cleanses every once in a while just to liven things up. I had braxton hicks contractions twice this week, not for very long but they definitely happened! Bodies are so incredible, in that they know what to do to get ready for birth! MISCELLANEOUS My sister Sierra, threw me the sweetest shower today! I felt so spoiled and loved for myself and baby boy! We also ran to the big city this week, Grand Junction, Co (its about an 1.5 drive) so we could go to target to get a few things. Were now stocked up on diapers and wipes and of course I bought some new baskets. because you can never have enough baskets... am i right? My bags are packed, baby boy's basinet is set up and Sawyer asks were baby brother is everyday. It's safe to say we're ready for you little buddy! BABY UPDATE:
Well 37 weeks means we've officially reached full term. Baby boy is head down and constantly kicking me in my ribs and gets hiccups at least twice a day. As part of my hypno-birthing practice I've been imagining seeing him and holding him for the first time. It's been so hard for me to imagine what he looks like for some reason. I know he'll look similar to Sawyer, but WHAT will he look like!? So for the practice I just imagine him looking like a little old man Sawyer. haha Sawyer was so squished and had Friar Tuck hair when he was born. I cannot wait for another tiny babe to hold and squish!! WORKOUTS I got in two cardio and 3 resistance workouts this week. When the weather was hotter, we went on walks all the time. and now it doesn't make since haha because we aren't going on our walks as much. The weather is so nice, but we mostly end up playing in the backyard or just playing at the park. So i've had to really stay motivated with my cardio workouts. Today Sawyer rode around on his 4-wheeler and I followed him around the neighborhood. I put it on high speed so I would have to walk really fast to keep up with him haha SYMPTOMS I had indigestion a few times this week.. uhhhh, but other than that I'm feeling great. I'm definitely more tired, and sleeping at night sucks. But overall things are great. EATING Yesterday Jeff told me he was going off refined sugar for 1 month. So I've been searching and planning some of my favorite "healthy" treats. I don't believe in cutting myself from all treats, because it always almost ends up with binging. A few dinners we have planned this week, are bbq chicken pizza, turmeric chili, enchiladas and salmon tatziki tacos. MISCELLANEOUS We're ticking off things on my "before baby comes" list, and its making things more real. I've started feeling a little scared to have another baby and what it will do to my relationship with Sawyer. I haven't felt like these feelings all pregnancy, because I know everything will be ok. But it's still scary and crazy and so unknown. This week we pulled out the basinet and set it up in our room, we got the carseat out and washed. I ordered the sweetest little knotted gown from Lou lou and company. It's so soft! I have a few blankets from them, from when Sawyer was born and i'm so excited for baby brother to have something of his own. Really can't believe were so close! BABY UPDATE:
According to my app at 36 weeks, Baby boy is approximately 6 pounds 😱 and the size of a cantaloupe. It also said he’s sleeping for 90% of the time. And I’m pretty sure that’s not true in baby boys’ case. He still moves so much and with a lot of force. it hurts sometimes!! I've been trying to constantly right in my pregnancy journal. Mostly the thoughts and feelings I'm having or something Sawyer has said about baby brother. I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping it up. WORKOUTS I got in two cardio and 3 resistance workouts this week! I'm still following/using @goodfortheswole's pregnancy workout subscription. It really is invaluable! SYMPTOMS Symptoms were fairly mild this week. I had some pelvic pain but nothing unmanageable. Yes my hair is still turning red hehe EATING We ate quite clean this week. My favorite meal, was salmon tacos with tatziki, cucumbers and fresh greens. I also ate a whole bag of kit kats, mostly by myself. #balance MISCELLANEOUS The first day that Jeff left for his work trip this week, Sawyer threw his first two huge out of the house tantrums. I was not prepared for 1 let alone 2. It was so horrible. Nothing I did calmed him down. and he was literally screaming at the top of his lungs. Really it was my fault, we went out way to close to lunch and nap time. I was like "HOW AM I GONNA HAVE TWO KIDS!!??". But luckily he was an angel the rest of the day and the rest of the week. But man. HOW CHAOTIC! When Jeff gets home in a few days were gonna start bringing baby stuff out of storage. we'll set the bassinet up and get the carseat washed and ready to be installed. Time is going by so fast. And while I know I could potentially still have 5-6 more weeks. the fact that I'm 36 weeks is crazy to me! almost full term! BABY UPDATE:
Little buddy gave us quite the scare this week. I'll just start by saying he has been moving and kicking normally, so I didn't even think anything could be wrong. I went in for my normal checkup and my doctor measured me and felt my stomach and said baby boy was already head down. All great! but when he went to listen to his heartbeat, he listened for so long! i was like... "What the heck is going on!!" Turns out, that Baby's heartbeat was on the low end of normal and dipping down. Doc sent us down to labor and delivery to do a NST. Baby was moving and actually had a great heart rate during it, but he didn't do his two active episodes, like they wanted and still had some dipping in his heart rate. Because of all this, they sent me in for an ultrasound. Turns out everything was fine, he just wasn't into performing for everyone ;) Runs in the family with Ingersoll boys I guess. He weighs around 4 and 3/4 pounds and is 17 inches long. He's active as ever and we still can't wait to meet him. I keep having this thought that he's going to come early. Whether its intuition or wishful thinking I don't know haha. But this weeks events really put it in my mind that he really could come anytime! WORKOUTS This week was rough for me with pelvic pain, so I only got in 1 cardio and 2 resistance workouts. Still feel really great for accomplishing that! SYMPTOMS Pelvic pain is the worst! I also had a hemorrhoid this week, for the first time ever. And that is actually the worst thing ever. But this all means Baby is getting lower and growing, so I'll (almost gladly) deal with it. Feeling much better after two days of pain. Woohoo. EATING I bought halloween candy this week haha. very delicious. I also ate all the kit kats out of the bag because, no self control with those things... A favorite recipe, that we've been making a lot is broccoli, cauliflower rice and chicken potstickers. So delicious and very easy to make! MISCELLANEOUS I threw my first birthday party for Sawyer this week. He turned 2 on the 10th. He's such a big boy! We had a rocket ship themed party and he had his favorite friends over. I will post pictures of it this week! I'm just really proud because it turned out so cute, and everyone had so much fun. Nesting is in full swing, as I'm finally finishing up our living room! we've lived in this house for 2 years and were finally getting things styled and decorated! Painting our front door, and the two guest bathrooms are on the docket to do for the next few weeks! BABY UPDATE:
Little boy is the size of a honeydew melon, or a mid century modern pendant lamp.. according to an article I read about the coolest baby comparisons haha. Read it HERE He's still moving around a ton, but slowed down slightly. (my stomach is getting so tight and cramped!!) And I am just getting more and more excited to birth him and meet him! WORKOUTS I did three resistance workouts this week and two cardio (two walks) I was feeling sick for a couple days and took those days off to recuperate. I'm feeling much better and was able to workout today and yesterday! My body needed the rest. My natural tendency is to feel guilty when I miss a workout, but I felt so refreshed after taking a couple days off. SYMPTOMS Part of the reason I took a couple days off from exercising is because I've been having some pelvic pain. I didn't get it with Sawyer, and it is not fun. let me tell you. but after resting its feeling much better. But, I might have to lower my resistance workouts to just 2-3 per week. The weirdest symptom I get when I'm pregnant is that my hair starts turning red... y'all I'm not kidding. all the baby hairs around my head right now are bright orange/red! I'm most definitely a ginger, and honorary one at least. After I had Sawyer it went back to growing my regular brown. IDK!! EATING I've been starting to meal plan and prep for when little peanut comes. I'll make a few freezer meals, but I'm going to try something I saw on @food4tots Instagram. She just had a baby and decided to just have the basics on hand. She went to the store around 37 weeks and got all the items she uses to make her regular go to meals. I think I'll like this way better. Meals will be fresher and honestly I'm not really a freezer meal fan over here. Still trying to fuel my body with lots of green veggies, fresh fruits and whole grains. But of course I'm still having my treats. White bread and nutella anyone? MISCELLANEOUS I've gotten a few clients to train the past few weeks, and I love it so much! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone work towards and succeeding at their goals! Also just bought my first Stasher bags, and reusable produce bags and I'm so excited! Our recycling center stopped taking so many different types of plastic and so I'm trying to reduce where I can. Have a great week! BABY UPDATE:
Baby boy is still as active as ever. I still feel like an alien is trying to rip his way out. I've been journaling this pregnancy with my Promptly Baby Journal. I used the same with Sawyer I love love love the idea of my kids being able to go back and read my thoughts and feelings throughout pregnancy. There really is nothing like this period and I hope they know how beautiful and sacred it is for me. We're back in the name business! Jeff was so sweet and decided to send me a text with a list of names he liked! ( so surprising because I always feel like I have to bug him to talk about names with me haha) We've got two that we really like and one we're both leaning towards. Hope it sticks!! WORKOUTS I got through 4 workouts this week!! 3 resistance and 1 cardio/long walk. The resistance workouts I've been doing are from GoodForTheSwole. I love them. they're challenging, get me sweating and safe for pregnancy! SYMPTOMS I am so tired!! Sleeping is becoming non existent, because I wake up every couple of hours to pee. The fatigue is what has made workouts so hard. I've been waking up early in the morning to do my workouts, but I cannot make myself get out of bed! But I am growing an active little guy so I'll just take the extra sleep ;) I've also been feeling some pelvic pain and crampy legs. But again I can't complain to much, because baby is healthy and really these are such mild symptoms! I've gained about 23lbs so far. which is right on track. And guess where its all gone? All in my but and boobs. the only time I'll be thicc ;) EATING Eating was good this week again. Though I have been craving mcdoubles from McDonalds and really i don't know who i am anymore. But I've been eating a lot of homegrown organic greens and thats been so satisfying! But also lately my favorite snack has been Grandma Sycamore's Bread (if you know, you know) and nutella. Balance peeps! MISCELLANEOUS Sawyer hasn't been sleeping well either. Like usually he is a dream to put down for naps and bedtime. But lately he's been so upset when we leave. It breaks my heart! and completely worries me for this second baby, haha. I hear there is a 2 year sleep regression, this must be it :( Jeff is gone on a work trip for a week or so, so its just me and buddy and my sister. Now's the time to order all the baby stuff.... haha just kidding.... sort of.... Another week is over, and I’m freaking out! I'm 31 weeks and feeling great! Bring on week 32 🙌🙌
BABY UPDATE: Baby boy is about 3.5 pounds now, and we’re both running out of room! He’s still very active, and his kicks and punches are getting a lot harder. The past few days he’s been getting tons of hiccups. And it’s so cute but also kind of annoying when I’m trying to fall asleep 😜 So far we have two names that we really like. We might just have to wait and see when he’s born. WORKOUTS This week I did 3 resistance workouts, two 3.5 mile walks with Sawyer and the pup and I’ll do a prenatal yoga session tonight before bed. I’ve also been adding into my daily routine some yoga ball work, and breathing exercises. SYMPTOMS The past two days heartburn has been killer! I’ve been eating really clean, I’m just gonna work on eating smaller meals more frequently. Baby boy is still waking me up at night moving and my bladder is shrinking 🙃. EATING This week my eating was significantly better, with some homemade peach cobbler on the side. Breakfasts: peach cobbler oatmeal (shared the recipe on my instagram HERE) Egg&egg white spinach scramble Chocolate Pb Kodak Pancakes Cottage cheese pancakes Banzai Bowl copy cat Maui Sunrise acas bowl (recipe HERE) Lunches: I mostly ate left overs from dinner, turkey sandwiches, chicken spinach salads Dinners: Zucchini Taco boats Zucchini shrimp Scampi Fajita taco salad ( went out to eat) Chicken Enchiladas ( we have these every sunday, will share recipe soon!) Leftovers Snacks: Rice cakes with cottage cheese, avocado and Trader Joe's Everything but the Seasoning. Cherry tomatoes, sweet peas, bell peppers and hummus Protein balls apple & almond butter PEACHES I've been working on planning out my dinners for the week. It's so much easier to have them planned! duh. But sometimes planning them is so hard for me! If I don't plan we usually end up eating junk and Sawyers Dino nuggets haha MISCELLANEOUS I've started to go through Sawyer's baby clothes and then started crying because he was so small and I'm going to have another tiny angel baby in a couple of months. We're planning on keeping the baby in our room for the first 6 months or so and then moving him into Sawyer's nursery. I liked he idea of them sharing a room, but we'll see how that goes.... This week I started the Hypnobirthing Hub home study course. I really liked the hypnobirthing book I mentioned last week but I felt like I needed something a little more hands on. So far I love the course! We met with our doula this week. I'm so excited to have her this time around. SO is Jeff ;) He's excited to not have to be so stressed. haha. Were starting to finalize plans and nesting. So much nesting! I cleaned our carpets this week, ordered some new storage for the boys' room and then of course started going through baby clothes. Everything is feeling pretty surreal these days! |
